The Journey Begins: Why We’re Walking 50 Miles for Freedom

When most people think of a honeymoon, they picture beaches, champagne, and maybe a little rest after the whirlwind of a wedding. But if you know us, you know we like to do things a little differently.
On October 25th, Matt and I will step onto the Equalizer course with a goal of walking 50 miles in 24 hours. Not for bragging rights. Not for a medal. But for something far bigger: to raise awareness and funds for Daylight United, an organization fighting human trafficking.
Why this? Why now? Because the numbers are staggering. Online enticement of children has grown by over 300% in just two years. Millions of men, women, and children remain trapped in modern-day slavery. And while those statistics are heartbreaking, we believe action — even small action — can ripple out into hope.
So we’re taking our honeymoon and turning it into a mission. Every mile we walk is a mile that says: love equals freedom.
Over the next several weeks, we’ll be training with our quirky Wheel of Doom challenges (yes, our friends and donors get to spin the wheel and make us suffer — all in good fun!). We’ll share updates, laughter, sweat, and maybe even a few tears as we prepare our minds and bodies for this challenge.
Our goal is clear: raise $5,000 for Daylight United. Each dollar fuels rescue, prevention, and awareness — real steps toward ending trafficking.
We’d love for you to come along on this journey. Share the story. Cheer us on. Sponsor a mile or an hour. Or simply remind yourself and others that freedom is worth fighting for.
Because this isn’t just our honeymoon. This is a love story with a bigger purpose.
